CTO in Residence

Baloise Group, Switzerland

Baloise Mobility needed technical seniority to work with their team focused on startups and investing in tens of additional startups. In this role, we worked very closely with the investors on Due Diligence and portfolio analysis, vetting investable teams. In addition, we worked with the startups to improve their products and scale development teams up and sometimes down. Technology delivery included a novel, centralized data platform complete with governance, MLOps and GenAI experimentation capabilities in the strictly regulated insurance space.

Product and Development Advisory

KPMG UK, UK

We are advising the product stream for the £20M Future Transport Zone project in the UK. Our responsibilities include defining product specifications and advising product-related aspects of the project, which aims for a release soon.

Founding CTO

MaaS Global (Whim), Finland

We built the Whim service from the ground up, scaling it to a mature product. Recruited and led a team of 70 people, establishing processes and defining the product and architecture. Whim is a B2C subscription service platform for mobility, integrating virtual contactless EMV payment cards for Apple and Google Pay. In this project, we designed and implemented a powerful data pipeline utilizing custom ML models to optimize mobility experiences based on user preferences and cost. In this role, we took the company from seed to Series B funding, securing over €80 million in investments. Multiple awards were won for innovation and design.

Interim R&D Leadership

Fortum, Finland

Our consultant was an interim lead of the Development Studio Finland, a group-wide software consultancy focused on driving digitalization through software products. We worked with the ventures, such as improving the delivery of the Plugsurfing service, which was successfully sold to a strategic investor. We also worked on cloud migration and created a developer platform, improving efficiency and reducing time to market by optimizing the end-to-end software development pipeline. Our Open Source Compliance consultancy was used to review and remediate all major projects. We also used our networks to help Fortum scale their development teams.

Entrepreneur in Residence

Coventures, Finland & France

As EiR, we firstly worked on the product strategy and pitch, then formed a company spinoff pitch and went to the market. The product is a C-ITS platform with advanced computer vision and AI features for managing road infrastructure.

Developer Experience

Microsoft, Finland & USA

Product development for Microsoft's public developer offering, go to market, developer evangelism. Our contribution was pivotal to the success of several products, including the Imaging SDK and new developer site(s), events such as Mobile World Congress and Microsoft Build.
